Welcome to the Better Wives Club! This club is for women who want to improve their marriage, household, crafty side, spirituality, and most importantly YOU! The only requirement to be a member of the club is to become a follower. Making improvements in your home, learning and trying new things, becoming a better you, and leaving comments are things we hope our club inspires, but aren't mandatory. The best part is you don't have to come to any club meetings, they're all right here on the blog!

Paper Garland

This is the easiest Christmas craft I think I've ever made and it's so cute I want to keep making them in different color schemes! I wish I could take credit for it's cuteness, but we did it for Super Saturday in my ward and I thought the Better Wives Club members would benefit from it.

What you need:

  • Coordinating paper (I used 7 different patterns)
  • Scissors, Cricut, OR Circle Punch (size 1 1/2 inch)
  • Sewing Machine
  • Cups or bowls to keep paper patterns separate (optional)
(I have a Cricut which made this project a LOT easier, but it is possible to hand cut all the circles or use a circle punch.)

Step 1: Cut out all the circles. My garland is 145 circles long, but since my paper wasn't double sided I used 2 circles each. The only ones that didn't need 2 circles were the solid cardstock colors. There are roughly 252 circles used for this garland. BUT... if you find double sided paper then you won't have to double up your circles. OR you can just leave the back sides white and not worry about putting a pattern on both sides. You can also use more solid colors than I did and that will save you some cutting. (My garland has a solid blue, a solid silver, and 5 patterns to match my tree.)

Step 2: Establish a pattern. Or don't. It's up to you if you just want to grab your circles and sew or create order in all the mayhem. Either way it'll be cute!
Step 3: Start sewing! Just feed them through one circle at a time. It's okay if there are spaces, but try not to overlap them to ensure your garland has give in it and can freely wrap around your Christmas tree.
Step #4: String it on your tree and enjoy!
Told ya it was easy! I made mine this morning before decorating my tree. And now I want to make two more to string along my windows.

Club Meeting #4

We will be holding our club meetings the first part of every month; not that it really matters because you don't need to be in attendance! What's the purpose of a club meeting you ask? Our meetings are a chance for you to tell us what you would like to see from this blog. Open up and share your opinions. We hold these meetings so your voices can be heard! It's also a way for us to bring our focus back to the center and talk about what we've learned, what we've tried and applied, and most importantly, how we've strengthened our marriage! After all, we call ourselves the Better Wives Club, therefore we should do things that make us better wives today than we were yesterday!

Leave Your Comments:

~Did you try any of the recipes or crafts?
     -Which ones?
     -How did they turn out?
-Are they something you'll do again?

~Did you do something this month to strengthen your marriage?
     -Any tips?
     -Did he notice?

~What's something you and your spouse do together that you really love?

~Any ideas for the rest of us of something we can try to strengthen our own marriages?

PS. Don't forget to click "join this site" on the left side of the screen under the heading "club members" to show that you're a member of the club. We currently have 7 members, but I know there are more who follow. Invite your friends. The more comments we get the better our discussions will be!

PS #2. We're in search of a Vice President for the Club. Lacey's having another baby and has a lot on her plate right now. She's unable to contribute as much as she'd like so we're looking for someone who would like to help get discussions going and add to what this blog has to offer. I nominate all of our club members to "run" for the position. Email me if you're interested at daddez_girl@hotmail.com.
